Malaysian Today recently had a booth in the Berjaya Carnival called the "Dunk'Em Booth". It was our first time being part of the carnival, so we wanted to get ourselves noticed. The mechanism for the "dunk" was sponsored by Desa Waterpark, whose booth was just beside us. The assigned team to handle the event, which included me (there are 6 in all, including amazing intern Elvina, who managed it rilly well), were given the task of decorating and managing the actual booth. And that includes the handling of coupons, prizes, volunteers, crowds, etc... And I assure you it was no easy feat. We got a lot of help with the decorations the day before from the graphics team (Sifu Alan & Zali) and also from Ghafar (hehehe). Ok here's how it goes, you purchase 3 balls using 3 coupons (equivalent of RM3) and that gives you 3 chances to shoot a target (a pic of Mr.Turtle). Hit the target adn the guy (or gurl) volunteer gets "dunked" into the water. You get a prize token which can be exchanged for wonderful gifts. Sounds easy enough right? The booth saw one of the biggest crowds during the carnival, which I admit made me smile as we worked so had on it. The whole booth also worked so well because of the wonderful volunteers (Doris, Thinesh, Mathu, Niro and Jason) who handled the crowd in between dunks and were so super sporting. I really wished the didn't get hurt during the event (Doris had a big scratch along her arm and the guys had lots on their wrists. And I heard they all had backaches and flu... poor things), but I admire how they still manage to smile and joke about it. Trust me, towards the end, the water was tainted with mud and so murky (did I mention some water goes into your mouth during dunks?)... They are so amazing (salute!). It was really tiring for all of us as there were not enough people to handle the event, and there was an extremely low budget allocated (RM50). I didn't even manage to play any games at the other booths or even eat during lunch break (a Slurpee and a Coke was all I had). But we somehow managed to make the best out of it and also have lotsa fun! Oh, btw we won 3rd place for "Best Decorated Booth"! If only they knew our budget... lol~
The tons of photos below prove it~ (make sure you check out both galleries)
PS: I didn't win the Lucky Draw for the CM8 MPV... darn!
This is Part I of the photos, up to lunch break. Continued in Part II~
